One of the Sunday’s tasks – reorganizing some art in my studio found some students works I’ve completely forgotten about. I’ve kept just a small part but still there is a full file of them from 5 very productive years. Free space in the studio is important so must rearrange all old and new artworks and art supplies and see if I have free canvases to work on, you know – for artists materials to work with are always short. :)) Hope your Sunday is great and weather pleasant for a walk, I had one yesterday and totally enjoyed! Sunday Task – Studio Reorganizing

Cake anyone? My home made Vanilla cake made yesterday because Sunday afternoons are prefect for coffee and something sweet It’s a vegan version made with soy milk (but I like it just like that) the topping is of crushed walnuts, cocoa powder, icing sugar and a pinch of cinnamon, delicious!
Hope you are having a pleasant Sunday, I had a nice short walk, enjoyed some sun and now I’m back to few unfinished tasks, main disadvantage of the freelancer’s life – Sundays are pretty much like other days. Safe night and Have a successful start of the new week!

Last few days I worked on a present for my niece’s Birthday. I wanted to make something special and handmade for her (she seems interested in painting and crafts now) so designed a bag and a matching purse. Both pieces are sewn of denim, the lining is cotton fabric with beautiful elephant print. Same fabric I made the bag lining from was used for the machine embroidered appliques, few of the beautifully printed elephants were cut, backed and embroidered to decorate the bag and the purse, I also hand-embroidered few details with thicker thread for more texture. The bag has a back-pocket that closes up with a zip and another double layered inside pocket with denim border. The shoulder-strap length is adjustable. Think both pieces turned really cute :)) My niece really liked the present when she got it, so mission accomplished!

I’m currently working on my handmade bags collection so I’m wondering if it’s worth making few pieces for kids too? Maybe few items like this will be good additions to my shop and my Etsy store.

I’m sharing my Birthday cake with all Friends Enjoy!
It’s a Chocolate cake with cream made of Mascarpone, raspberry jam and dark chocolate, covered with Ganache and decorated with Belgian truffles.
I usually make a home-made cake for my Birthday, this year is no exception just the cake is double-sized. Took two days to bake and assemble the cake but everybody loved it so it’s totally worth the time spent. For the base I used this recipe: Vegan chocolate cake recipe but I baked two cakes, sliced few layers and decorated with cream made of Mascarpone cheese, melted dark chocolate and home-made raspberry jam.
This combined with the dark rich cake base and the ganache made an amazing cake Belgian truffles for final touches. In the album I’m sharing few photos of the cake making process, this time duly photographed

Something from my hand knit collection for the coming spring this beautiful Jumper is made of hand-crafted fibre mix and features hand-embroidery details made of white cotton thread decorated with two nuances of pearl green beadings (seafoam green and peacock green).

It’s weekend again best time to do some house work, some shopping and the best time to relax, naps are highly recommended if accompanied with dreams even better My art work “Pink dreams” is inspired by the images created by our mind while we’re sleeping. Our dreams are so varied, multicoloured or monochrome, or in different hues, I’ve chosen to paint the pink ones as life and dreams through pink shades are symbol of the happiness. Off to shop some cake ingredients for B-day cake(s) It’ll be either one big cake or two small – we have two Birthdays to celebrate next week – mine and my husband’s so that requires lots of cake :)) I’m more inclined to one big cake of few layers with Raspberry jam or Ganache between them.
Recipe has been already chosen still not sure if I’m gonna make exactly the same frosting, will decide that later when I start baking.

The First Snowdrops this year

Never tried one of these before and you know curiosity must be fed I’ve seen them in few culinary shows used as decoration so had to find out how they taste and Hmm.. actually strange, they have a texture and look quite similar to tomato and taste something between strawberry and grape to me, a bit confusing when you try them for a first time.
Physalis or Ground cherries as they’re known in Europe aren’t very often seen on European markets but I had the chance to satisfy my curiosity.

Not sure I’m entranced by the taste but they are really beautiful looking and would make a nice reference for an artwork or piece of jewelry so I made few shots and may use them in some future some work.

Physalis – Exploring new tastes

Last Day of 2014! Only several hours to say Good Bye to this year and to welcome the New one, recharged with new hopes and expectations
… also time to open my Good things Jar and see what I’ve marked as good things that happened to me. There was a wonderful post with this idea I saw in the end of last year (can’t remember the author) and I decided to try it and bought my jar. I had to write down all: Surprise gifts, Accomplished goals, LOL moments, Memories worth saving, Days of Happiness and all the other Great stuff. As it looks my jar doesn’t contain many notes, I’m gonna read them tonight in the last hour of the year which for me personally was quite hard and harsh, disappointments and problems were more than the happy moments and people that let me down more than those that gave me a hand but …

I’m really happy I made many new Friends on G+ and want to thank each of you for sticking around, for your support and for being amazing in the way you are! Hope the New 2015 is a better one for all of you, healthier, happier and more successful and full of amazing moments! Happy New Year’s Eve everybody and a very Happy New Year!

My personal wish – a Jar loaded with more notes in the end of next year and trying to learn to appreciate more even the small things and gleams of happiness and to write them down for my jar!

Last Day of 2014

There are few reasons I love February about and they make it my favorite month.
Firstly because January is the most boring month in the year – cold, dull, short days with no sunshine to make you smile. Most people still recover from the holidays and all expenses related to these holidays, many feel guilty they have spent more they can afford, other feel heavier with few more pounds and cannot get in most of the pieces from they wardrobe after the lavish holiday tables. So there is February coming and I like it at least 10 times more than January. Why? Maybe because I hate January, but also for these personal reasons of mine:

February is the shortest month not more than 29 days, so that makes at least two days less working but you get the same salary. It is also the last cold month of the winter, well not in all parts of the northern hemisphere and not always March weather is great, but at least we know spring is close so we feel warmer.

February is also the month of the most Romantic day – Valentine’s day so at least on this day people refrain from being rude and give their beloved ones roses, sweets and presents, what nicer than this! BTW Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Enjoy the holiday today and don’t forget that Love makes the world a better place.

And one more important reason – my Birthday is in February! After certain age birthdays don’t matter so much but it is some way to count the years you have been on the planet Earth and to check if your presence here matters to someone. If you tend to count the birthday wishes you get, sometimes you may get surprised that you get more Happy Birthdays in the Net than in the “environment” you live in, but I guess you get what you deserve.
So even it is in the winter and even if my Birthday is on 13th and some people consider number 13 as a fatal one I take it as the lucky fatality and keep liking February.
